Worried Jagadish Shettar Fly to Bengaluru
Hubballi: Former CM Jagadish Shettar failed to secure a BJP ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from either the Dharwad or Haveri-Gadag constituency in the party’s second list. Worried about this development, the former CM flew to Bengaluru to meet party veteran BS Yediyurappa this evening.
Speaking to reporters before departing for Bengaluru, Shettar expressed his interest in running from either Dharwad or Haveri. However, he acknowledged that despite his interest, the tickets were announced without his inclusion. He mentioned that discussions regarding his candidacy from the Belagavi constituency were ongoing and a decision on this matter was expected by the evening.
Addressing the “go-back Shettar” campaign launched in Belagavi, Shettar dismissed it as a ploy by certain individuals for personal gain. He stated that he was in discussions with Belagavi leaders and would consider contesting from Belagavi if directed to do so by the party’s high command. Regarding questions about his return to the BJP and speculation about being offered a ticket to contest from the Dharwad constituency, Shettar maintained that internal discussions should not be disclosed to the media.
He affirmed his commitment to campaigning for any BJP candidate, not just Joshi, emphasizing his support for Prime Minister Modi’s bid for a third term.
